Half-Dimes

Note: we have just added additional Half Dimes which we have purchased. Most have been off the market for decades and many are priced a significant reductions from Coin Values price levels (one at less than a dollar!), and in some cases-- look carefully-- we have priced at bottom bargain prices for those who are seeking this interesting early silver denomination often overlooked by many new collectors.

Capped Bust Type*

1829, CAPPED BUST TYPE,  ANACS graded MS-61.  This is a delightful coin with above average surface and much luster. $550.00 1829, CAPPED BUST TYPE, Unlike the previous 1829, this coin has been slightly bent and a surface cut was created across the obverse from Liberty's jay to her cap. The Reverse is only showing the slight bend. otherwise is is Very Fine-20,with some luster showing under toning. A bargain for just $40.00

1830, CAPPED BUST TYPE, VF-35,   a very light scratch and even smaller ones show under magnification on obverse and reverse is free from any notable problems. Luster showing under gray gun metal toning with golden highlights. Another bargain for just $70.00 with Coin Values showing $125.00 for VF-or grade20.

1832, CAPPED BUST TYPE, F-15, A no problem coin for the grade which is what we used to call F-VF.   Has nice gunmetal toning with contrasting highlights on the major design elements. An attractive type coin with good  detail and presentation.   A good buy at $70.00 with Coin Values showing $75.00 for F-12.

1834, CAPPED BUST TYPE, VG, Has gray gun metal toning and no visible problems An excellent buy for just $40.00 with Coin Values showing $50.00.

1834, CAPPED BUST TYPE, ANACS, AU-58, this coin was sold by a major dealer as BU and it has all the characteristics of this grade.  A wonderful design of a classic early American coin. $350.00 (964082)

1835, CAPPED BUST TYPE, Large Date, Small "5c" grades Ex. Fine-45 with much luster and golden highlights with a very small dig at obverse bottom below drape of bust and some very light hairlines on obverse. Light toning. Worth easily $150.00 with Coin Values showing $200.00.

1835, CAPPED BUST TYPE, Small Date, Large "5c" grades Fine-12, Gray gunmetal lighter toning and some small hardly visible old marks normal for its grade.  A excellent buy for just $65.00 with Coin Values showing $75.00.

 BUST CAPPED HALF DIME, 1837, Small "5c."  Uncirculated with full luster but lightly cleaned long ago and showing hairlines and light scratches on close examination on obverse and fewer observable on reverse. This example is a late die stage with many interesting die cracks on both sides, one most interesting on obverse is one from Liberty's mouth downwards towards stars on left. There are major die issues on the reverse. A nice bright coin, strong strike despite die issues, with few marks truly lovely coin! $950.00

LIBERTY SEATED HALF-DIME, WITHOUT STARS TYPE, 1837, ANACS MS-61, Lovely bright coin with great luster and excellent strike, Coin Values gives a MS-62 at $1,000 and MS-60 at $900. This coin just $930.00. (945940)

Liberty Head/Barber Type

CIRCULATED ROLL OF  "LIBERTY HEAD," VARIETY I,   NICKEL FIVE-CENT PIECE, "WITHOUT CENTS" TYPE, ONLY ONE YEAR TYPE FOR SERIES, 1883. This is the famous "racketeer" five cents coins that only had a "V" on the reverse without the "cents" and were gold plated by dishonest people and passed for five dollars.  This is a key date for both type collectors and date collectors of the series since they both must have this date.   Interest is increasing as people realize that these coins are not getting less scarce.  Many of these coins are being sold by dealers at $10.00 a coin. We have a single roll (40 coins), in nice Extra Fine condition for only  $240.00.
