1855 ONE PENNY, VICTORIA YOUNG HEAD, ornamental trident, Choice AU+, hard to tell if not a strict Unc. coin with much mint luster and lovely surfaces and medium brown with some red. A reasonably priced and very nice coin for the serious collector of choice coppers. $170.00

1890 ONE PENNY, VICTORIA BUN HEAD, UNCIRCULAED, KM-755, with some luster, nice choice condition and surface, with some red.   $210.00

TWOPENCE

 1797, TWOPENCE, famous "Cartwheel" coinage from the Soho Mint, KM-619, this example a nice Almost Uncirculated, near perfect edges and thus hard to find so nice, priced in UNC. in the UK  normally at about $1,200 and our coin a bargain at just  $445.00

1874 HALF CROWN, Victoria Young Head, S.3127, KM-765, Almost Uncirculated-Ex. Fine. Date and much of obverse legend has been re-cut (re-engraving), or struck with doubled (hub) dies (?), interesting and scarce variety.  $170.00

CROWNS (5/)

1818 LVIII CROWN , George the III, KM-675, Choice toned Uncirculated Proof-Like surface. This is the crowning glory of Pistrucci's work, and of all British silver up to that time.  Sharp splendid subtly modeled Head, Rev. classic St. George and the Dragon within garter.  Critics called it a numismatic masterpiece. They were double struck and with raised edge letters.  This example with extraordinarily preserved original surfaces.  $900.00

1847 VICTORIA "GOTHIC" CROWN, UNDECIMO EDGE, KM-744, S. 3883, ESC 288, Choice proof, lovely toned beautiful surfaces. This coin is far better than most proofs found today and deserves a premium  price. Only 8,000 minted, far fewer survived in this pristine condition.  Portrait of Victoria and cruciform arrangement of the quarterings of the Royal Arms on reverse. Purchased years ago from one of the most eminent coin auction houses and designated a Choice Proof. Coin comes with original auction tag. Designed by William Wyon, and called the most beautiful coin of all time. Certainly, one of the great classic coins of Britain or the world. These coins sells for $5,500 just in Unc. condition, and in good XF for $3,500.  POR

British Proof Sets

SET OF 8 BRITISH PROOF GOLD SOVEREIGNS, 1979-86, S. 4204, United Kingdom, in Deluxe Red Case, KM-919, KM-943. These proofs have mintages far less than regular BU sovereigns, from only 100,000 to just 22,000 verses often 4-7 million. This set in official mint leatherette case is scarce and not listed in KM.  Low mintage, choice  gem coins, for a very reasonable price.  $1,500.00

 

1984 Gold Proof Set (3 coins - Half Sovereign, Sovereign, and Five Pounds, KM-919,922,924)) in case,  KM-PS46. This is the PROOF set with only 8,000 of the 5 Pound proof coin minted.  As the above, this is a very impressive set which will become more and more sought after by modern gold collectors.  $1,500.00
